About Text to Speech

Reads text aloud using the voices installed on your device, with adjustable rate and pitch. Nothing is uploaded — the speech is generated by your own operating system.

Where the voices come from

This uses your browser's built-in speech synthesis, so the available voices are the ones your operating system provides. That is why the list differs between Windows, macOS, Android and iOS, and why Turkish voices may be present on one device and absent on another. Quality varies accordingly: recent system voices are neural and sound close to natural, while older ones are noticeably synthetic.

Use it to proofread. Hearing your own writing read back catches errors the eye skips — missing words, repeated phrases, sentences that run too long to say in one breath. It is one of the most effective editing techniques available, and it costs nothing.

Why does it mispronounce names and abbreviations?

Because synthesis works from spelling rules, not understanding. Acronyms, foreign names and words with irregular pronunciation get regularised. Writing a name phonetically in the input is a legitimate workaround when you need it to sound right for a recording.

Can I save the audio as a file?

Not from the browser's speech interface — it plays through the speakers without exposing a downloadable stream. Capturing it needs system audio recording software. For anything intended for publication, a dedicated text-to-speech service produces better quality and gives you a file directly.
